Miniature Model Making (part 1)

Making miniatures scratches a very specific creative itch for me because it’s so multifaceted. I get to practice digital 3D design, woodwork, miniature carpentry, papercraft, miniature clay throwing and polymer clay sculpting, painting, and yes—even my nemesis of crafts: sewing.

Right now, I’m building a miniature living room. So far, I’ve created a couch, sideboard, bookshelf, tiny books and records, and the basic structure of the room — walls, floor, and windows. This is a long-term project; the process is slow and very time-consuming, and I’m not in a hurry. While I practice patience in creating the room, I’m impatient to share what I’ve made so far. Below, you’ll find some of the items I’ve crafted and a few behind-the-scenes clips.

There will definitely be a Part 2, where I’ll tackle the finishing touches — rugs, plants, a record player, and more. And what will I do with it when it’s done, you ask? Well, I’ve got ideas… none of which are particularly practical. For now, this is purely my creative self-care time — a personal outlet and a chance to own the living room of my dreams. Even if sitting on that tiny couch would mean destroying it, I’ll happily imagine myself there.
