On Assignment at Holey Moley
On Assignment After Dark at Holey Moley
I recently shot this after-hours mini golf tournament at Holey Moley in Fortitude Valley — a vibrant mix of wild lighting, competitive spirit, and over-the-top putt-putt energy.
Venues like this can be a challenge to photograph: low, patchy lighting, tight spaces, and fast-moving subjects. But that’s also what makes them fun — and full of personality. To tell this story, I focused on capturing a wide range of shots:
Scene-setting frames that show off the quirky decor and all-important venue signage
Details like the themed courses, signature drinks, and the DJ in action
Action shots — those pure reactions to a hole-in-one or the heartbreak of a close call
Candid moments between players, caddies, spectators, and teams
A mix of posed and in-the-moment portraits that show off the colour and characters of the night
My aim was to blend candid energy with atmosphere — to create a gallery that captures not just what happened, but the full vibe of the venue and the people who brought it to life.
These kinds of event stories are ideal for editorial coverage or branded content — real people, real places, and a whole lot of character.
