Lotte at BNE

This was my second shoot with Lotte Duty Free at Brisbane International Airport, and we continued building on the themes from our first project together. With such a huge mix of products – different brands, colours, shapes, and categories – they needed a style of photography and styling that could work consistently across everything. On top of that, they often promote different products together in deals, so flexibility was key.

My solution was to create an evolving asset library: photographing products and props from a few key angles with consistent lighting and backdrops. From there, I can build patterns – mixing and matching products, props, and background colours in endless combinations. It gives them so much diversity in how images can be put together, while every shoot just adds to their growing asset library.

These patterns have become one of my favourite styles of imagery to create. They scratch that little “Tetris itch” in my brain, while also feeling deeply meditative. Below are some of my favourite patterns from this most recent shoot.

Image Set 2

Alongside the pattern library, we also shot a more traditional product set. These images were styled against a blue sky backdrop – instantly evoking airports, flying, and travel – with products placed on plinths and paired with ingredient props or scents. They were such a fun contrast to the patterns, and I love the energy they bring.

I also created a few stop motion animations for this campaign. If you’d like to see them in action, you can check out my stop motion reel here.
